Travel can make it hard to keep your blood sugar within your target range because of changes in time zones, meal schedules, and types of foods available. Check your blood sugar level more often during your time away from home.

Altitude sickness is caused by dry air, a decrease in oxygen, and low barometric pressure when you travel to a higher altitude than you’re used to. As a result, you may have problems, such as headaches, dehydration, and shortness of breath.

In countries where sanitary conditions are poor, immunizations against typhoid and hepatitis A may be recommended. Depending on your travel activities and the local disease situation, you may need to be immunized against these diseases.
